A Buffet for Butterflies

This event has already taken place.

Let's help lay out a buffet for butterflies and all our other native pollinator friends. We're working to extend the power of Corktown Common through the neighbourhood by creating pollinator-friendly gardens throughout and around the area.

Join our friends in Corktown to participate in the cleanup of some new beds on Sumach Street, right on the border of the two neighbourhoods, another step in filling in the corridor between the pollinator garden at Sackville Playground and Corktown Common. This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community, connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts, and make a positive impact on the environment.

If you are a fan of the pollinator gardens in Corktown Common, on Bayview Avenue, along Front Street, and at Sackville Playground, you can help add another step toward our goal of making the whole neighbourhood butterfly-friendly!

Meet at the parking lot of Inglenook Community School on Sumach Street at 9am July 28. We will be cleaning up 3 of the boulevard-facing garden beds on the east side of the Community School, take out the existing shrubs and weeds in them, and prepare the site for planting in the early fall.

 What to Bring:

  • Gardening gloves
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Water bottle
  • Any gardening tools you may have (e.g., shovel, trowel, pruning shears)

Please RSVP by July 25th.

Note: This event is open to all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, your help and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated.

Let’s come together to beautify our community and create a more vibrant and sustainable environment for all to enjoy! We look forward to seeing you there!
