We are a group of residents from the neighbourhood who have formed a not-for-profit corporation under the name “Canary District Neighbourhood Association”. Our members include representatives from most of the buildings that form part of the area.

The Canary District Neighbourhood Association is a not-for-profit corporation formed by residents who serve the people, businesses, and organizations within the Canary District area of Toronto.

Purpose

Our purpose is to help the neighbourhood thrive socially, environmentally, and economically.

We help people work together to make the neighbourhood better.
We promote measures to enhance the quality of life of all who live and work here.
We advocate for community interests in public and private sector projects that affect the neighbourhood.
We help our neighbours share information and become more engaged in community life.

Vision

Our vision is of a strong, connected, and vibrant community where residents actively collaborate to improve the quality of life, ensure sustainable development, and maintain the unique character of Canary District.

Trust among community members, even those we don’t personally know, is the best way to support a safe community. We strive to ensure where possible our activities connect neighbours with one another in a way to build that trust.

Environmental Stewardship

The rapid conversion from industrial brownfields to a residential neighbourhood is just the beginning. Corktown Common presents a strong platform from which we strive to protect and continue to restore a healthy ecosystem throughout the neighbourhood.
