What We Do
We help people work together to make the neighbourhood better. Example: twice a year we organize Clean Canary Together, an event where volunteer community members get together and pick up litter throughout our streets.
We promote measures to enhance the quality of life of all who live and work here. Example: in partnership with the Distillery District (Gooderham & Worts Neighbourhood Association) we are promoting a number of programs to help our seniors age in place, including exercise classes, seminars on healthy aging, and vaccine clinics.
We advocate for community interests in public and private sector projects that affect the neighbourhood. Example: we meet regularly with the City and with developers to promote community priorities in the remaining large development projects in the area.
We help our neighbours share information and become more engaged in community life. Example: Our Canary District Neighbourhood Association Facebook Group has grown more than 1,600 members; our Instagram account @canary_to now has 400+ followers.
