April 2025 News

It's springtime! And we have some questions for you, plus two reminders from last month for events that are coming up very soon:

  • Canary District Neighbourhood Survey: How friendly are we? How safe? How strong a community? Let's find out.
  • Spring Cleaning in Canary District: Join a happy gang of neighbours to Clean Toronto Together.
  • Guided Walk in Corktown Common: Come on out and enjoy the buds and shoots. (No, not that kind.)

Canary District Neighbourhood Survey

How strong is Canary District? How safe? How friendly?

Let's find out...

We all know Canary District is much more than a bunch of buildings and a park: it's us. The people. Our attitudes, our relationships, and especially how we interact with one another.

Inspired by the work of Strong Towns and by neighbourhood networking theory, CDNA has developed a neighbourhood survey designed to provide some kind of measurement of how strong we are as a neighbourhood.

Take the survey now!

Our Streetscape Committee is off and running! Show them some love and sign up for this fun volunteer event they're organizing. Help make our springtime neighbourhood clean and beautiful. We provide gloves, bags, and trash grabbers and assign you one of our lovely streets.

Can't make Saturday? Reply to this email and we will set you up with a private shift on another day!

Spring Walk in Corktown Common

Did you know that our Corktown Common is much, much more than "just" a park? It's also flood protection, a haven for native plants and pollinators, and a site with a rich industrial history. It boasts a series of interconnected outdoor environments that humans, animals, birds and insects can enjoy.

It's also an all-season experience, with new things to see and discover at every time of the year. Come see Corktown Common transformed by winter on an informal walking tour of this beautiful park.

  • FREE
  • Approximately 1 hour
