Old Foundry Road!
You may have noticed that the old Eastern Avenue spur, the one that confused direction-takers no end, has been renamed Old Foundry Road, acknowledging the heritage of the Foundry site and clearing up the "go east on Eastern then turn right on Eastern" conundrum.
This was initiated by a resident who used our Councillor's Toronto Centre Projects website to make a case for the name change. Dozens of other residents found the suggestion and upvoted it, sending it to Council. The payoff was on July 22 when Councillor Moise and a dozen residents came together to unveil one of the four new street signs.

Seeing Zebras... and Stop Signs
After the City installed stop signs at Rolling Mills and Old Foundry Road, many drivers were still rolling right through, leading to resident concerns about safety. The City responded to our request to have zebra stripes painted at all three crossings.
Further south, new stop signs were installed at Rolling Mills and Mill Street — and we are lobbying for these to be marked by zebra stripes, as well as other traffic improvements in the area.

3Rs Ambassador Training
Did you know that Torontonians living in multi-residential buildings (such as ours) are significantly poorer at sorting waste effectively?
- The 2024 waste diversion rate for single-family homes in Toronto was 61.4%.
- The 2024 rate for multi-residential buildings (that's us) was much lower at 27.3%.
The City's 3Rs Ambassador Program engages volunteers in apartments, condos and co-ops to help promote the 3Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle).
Ambassadors can tailor programs to suit their building. It's a great way to:
- reduce your building’s garbage costs
- help reduce environmental impacts
- help the City increase waste diversion
- get to know your neighbours
- meet people passionate about waste management
- earn volunteer hours
There's a free training on September 8! Apply by clicking this link.
