It's time again for our twice-yearly neighbourhood cleanup!

Spring is finally here! And as the snow melts away... well, we see we have our work cut out for us.

No matter, we are equal to the task and what's more it's fun! Meet outside Lost Craft Brewery (NE corner of Tannery and Front) at 10am. Provided with gloves, bags, and trash grabbers, you'll be assigned one of our lovely streets.

BONUS: Every bag of trash collected will trigger a donation of $5 to Don't Mess With The Don, one of our favourite charities!

Optional: If you can't make it on the day, reach out to [email protected] and we will set you up a special shift on another day.

Also optional: For those who want extra good karma, we will have a poo pickup squad for the special treasures lying around.

A Community-led Urban Ecological Regenerative Initiative

Dream with us as we walk through a vision for the revitalization of Urban Prairie at Corktown Common.

The Canary District Neighbourhood Association is championing a community-led initiative to transform an infestation of invasive species into a powerhouse for environmental education, an outdoor living museum destination, and habitat for species at risk.

Join us as we walk the proposed route of the trail. Using the power of all our combined imaginations, we will visualize the future in which this now-neglected location is restored to its proper ecological balance, and enriched with educational opportunities for young and old. Let's show the world the power of community!

Most of the walk is on paved pathways, with some gentle slopes. People using mobility devices will be able to participate fully.

Start location: Front entrance to Gears Bike Shop Toronto, 599 King St E

End location: Recreation Field, Corktown Common Park

Let Adam Cohoon and Jennifer Conroy show you where the Force is strong in Canary District — and where it isn't (yet).

Join us for a walk in which we examine the accessibility of arts and public culture space in urban planning and community in general, and in Canary District in particular. We will start at the lamppost sculpture on Front Street (434 Front St. East, near Cherry). After looping around the neighbourhood, the walk will end at the water guardian sculpture less than a block away.

Eleven years after the Pan Am Games and 10 years after the first residents started moving in, we explore the strengths and weaknesses, the good and the bad, and the stuff we are still trying to work on in a community. For years this community was built more by people that didn't live here. Now people in the community are starting to work harder on having a say, and today we have our own neighbourhood association. We'll talk about what life was like before the pandemic, without some of these amenities; the strengths and learnings during the pandemic; and how the changes to the Ontario Line, Metrolinx Construction, and adjustments to City planning are still changing the neighbourhood.

The walk, which will last ±60 minutes, is designed to be inclusive and accessible to all. Whether you're a long-time resident or new to the neighbourhood, we encourage you to join us. After the walk, there will be extra time for debriefing, if desired.

The main transit stops are Front Street on 514 C or Cherry Street on 121 buses. Look out for us, Adam and Jen, sitting in our power wheelchairs near the sculpture.

CDNA is partnering with GWNA's Living Long in the Distillery to offer a community COVID vaccine clinic. Vaccines will be administered by a trained pharmacy professional.

Our thanks to Gooderham & Worts Neighbourhood Association "Living Long in the Distillery" team for inviting us to participate, and to Soulpepper, Shopper's Drug Mart and NO FRILLS for their support.
