St. Lawrence REmarket

This event has already taken place.

The St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association (SLNA) is holding a pop-up community service to collect unwanted goods and prevent them from being sent to landfills

This is definitely something we would like to do here in Canary District, but until we can organize it, we encourage folks to go check out our neighbour's event over on The Esplanade.

What is REmarket?

The Remarket is a community event organized by our almost-next-door neighbourhood association to promote the REmarketing of usable post-consumer goods that can be REused, REpaired, and REcycled and to Rethink our purchasing decisions by taking Responsible actions in our consumption of material goods.

One way they do this is by
holding a two-day community event for people to drop off and swap unwanted goods to prevent them from being sent to landfill. It includes:

  • FreeMarket, a place where anyone can donate and/or take items as they please
  • Repair Café Toronto, where volunteers will work with you to try to repair fixable items (clothing, small appliances, computers and more), showing you useful tips and tricks along the way
  • Recycling stations, where they certain hard-to-recycle items to be responsibly recycled by organizations such as TerraCycle, Pact Collective, and Staples
  • CultureLink Bike Hub, who help people fix their own bicycles, and provide bike repair workshops on-site and in the neighbourhood

Check out the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association website for more details.
