TOPS: Wildhood

Join your neighbours at the park and enjoy eats and treats at 7pm, with the movie starting at sundown, ±9pm. Nestled between the Distillery and the Don, you get an unbeatable view of Toronto’s skyline. Bring a picnic blanket, folding chair, meditation cushion.... whatever you need to be comfortable hanging out with hundreds of neighbours on a big green lawn.

From the TOPS website: "Wildhood is a heartfelt 2S coming-of-age road movie that follows two brothers, Link (Phillip Lewitski) and Travis (Avery Winters-Anthony), running away from their abusive father on a journey to find their mother. Along the way, the boys meet Pasmay (Joshua Odjick, in a Canadian Screen Award-winning role), a powwow dancer, who offers to help the boys along their adventure. While Link initially rebuffs Pasmay’s romantic advances, a frosty Heated Rivalry-esque will-they-won’t-they eventually gives way to a tender (yet steamy) moment of sexual discovery for Link. Shot on location around Windsor (Pesaquid), Nova Scotia, Wildhood swept the top awards at the Atlantic Film Festival and has quickly cemented itself as a new Canadian classic."

Screenings are open to anyone who would like to attend, with no barriers to entry. TOPS is always free to all, and charitable donations make this possible.

Each summer, the Toronto Outdoor Picture Show (TOPS) presents an a open-air festival program at four home parks across Toronto: Fort York, Christie Pits, Corktown Common, and Bell Manor Park. Corktown Common showings start on the first Thursday in July.
