April 2026 News

As the weather finally warms up (just ignore today's temperature) here are some things to plan for:

  • Clean Canary Together: It's time again for our twice-yearly neighbourhood cleanup
  • Vaccine Clinic May 4: The force will be with you if you spend Star Wars Day getting your next COVID Vaccine re-up!
  • Jane's Walk: Once again two of our residents will lead a tour of the neighbourhood looking through accessibility-coloured glasses
  • Canary District Yard Sale Returns: Time to clean out that locker! Our yard sale returns on Saturday May 30

Clean Canary Together

Saturday April 25, 10am-noon

Spring is finally here! And as the snow melts away... well, we see we have our work cut out for us.

No matter, we are equal to the task and what's more it's fun! Meet outside Lost Craft Brewery (NE corner of Tannery and Front) at 10am. Provided with gloves, bags, and trash grabbers, you'll be assigned one of our lovely streets.

Optional: If you can't make it on the day, reach out to [email protected] and we will set you up a special shift on another day!

COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

Protect yourself in 2026 with the latest COVID shot!

CDNA is partnering with GWNA's Living Long in the Distillery to offer a community COVID vaccine clinic. Vaccines will be administered by a trained pharmacy professional.

Our thanks to Gooderham & Worts Neighbourhood Association "Living Long in the Distillery" team for inviting us to participate, and to Soulpepper, Shopper's Drug Mart and NO FRILLS for their support.

Jane’s Walk: Canary in the Pan Am Nest

Let Adam Cohoon and Jennifer Conroy show you where the Force is strong in Canary District — and where it isn't (yet).

Join us for a walk in which we examine the accessibility of arts and public culture space in urban planning and community in general, and in Canary District in particular. We will start at the lamppost sculpture on Front Street (434 Front St. East, near Cherry). After looping around the neighbourhood, the walk will end at the water guardian sculpture less than a block away.

It’s Back: Spring 2026 Yard Sale

Join your neighbours for a fun, sustainable yard sale right in the heart of the Canary District

With the broad sidewalk and many artworks, our Front Street Promenade is always a great place to stroll on a weekend, but this weekend will be extra special! Three blocks of more than 40 tables bursting with new, gently used, and handcrafted items for sale by Canary District neighbours. Browse the merch, connect with others, and enjoy a great day outside.

If you would like to rent a table, apply here.

You'll find gently used, vintage, and new clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, baby items, kids’ toys, books, cookware, household items, handmade items, paintings, purses, crafts, furniture, textiles, services, lemonade, baked goods, & more!

Volunteers Needed!

If you're willing to volunteer for part or all of the event, click here to let us know.
